From the Principal:
Dear Parents and Carers,
On Sunday we celebrate Father’s Day.
All dads, stepdads, uncles, and grandfathers have vital roles to play in the lives of their children. The fathers (and all men) involved in our children's lives are 24/7 role models. Every word, every action, every smile, every frown, everything a dad does is an example for children. From a very young age, children ‘pick up’ on what their dads do. They like to copy them, they like to do what their Dad does, they want to be like their Dad. Something that’s important to a Dad is often important to their child. Dads have an incredible influence on their children.
We wish all dads a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday. We trust that you have a moment on Sunday when the love of your children will be so beautifully clear for you to see. It might be the smile on their face, the look in their eye, the hug they give ………. it may even be that they actually laugh and genuinely enjoy your jokes.
Kind regards,
Mary Bennett
Premier's Reading challenge:
Premier’s Reading Challenge
Wow! What a huge 10 weeks of reading at Our Lady of Mercy this year. It has been amazing to witness and hear about all the fantastic in-class and at-home reading. A huge congratulations to all students completing the 10-week challenge either at school or at home. Thank you to all the families for encouraging and supporting their child throughout our Reading Challenge and promoting a love of reading for life.
A special mention to our Kindergarten class, in their first year of participating, who have read a whopping 68 books in 10 weeks! We have some super readers on our hands. Amazing work Kinders!
As part of our Premier’s Reading Challenge this year, each class will be selecting a ‘Reading Champion’. This is a student who has demonstrated great reading habits, showed great engagement in reading/the challenge, achieved or smashed their personal reading goal, or just someone who shared their reading experiences with others. These will be announced next week.
Congratulations Our Lady of Mercy!
