From the Principal:
This week, we had great pleasure in welcoming Andrew and Michael into our school community as they unveiled a Peace Pole in our reflection garden, donated by the Deloraine Rotary Club."The Peace Pole program had its beginnings in 1955. You can now find Peace Poles in close to 200 countries with more than 200,000 placed around the world.
To recognise the centenary of Rotary in Tasmania, Rotary Clubs and Rotary members are donating 100 Peace Poles to schools, community groups and not for profit organisations. Peace Poles are set into the earth, with the Universal Peace Message 'May Peace Prevail on Earth' written on each side in four languages. They symbolise our common wish for a world at peace. They stand as a silent vigil, reminding us to think and act in the spirit of peace. Importantly the aim is to help spread the message of peace across our State and throughout the world. It is a reminder that peace begins in our hearts, our homes and our communities.
As well as English, the other languages chosen for our pole are:
Gaelic: recognising our Irish connection through the Sisters of Mercy.
Palawa Kani: Our local indigenous connection.
Latin: For our connection with the Catholic church.
Please take the time to come in and view this pole which has been placed in our Aboriginal Garden. We are are grateful to the Rotary Club of Deloraine for including our school in this wonderful initiative.
Kind regards,
Mary Bennett
Principal.
Fiesta on Goderich 25th October:
This is shaping up to be a wonderful event. Our Parents & Friends Committee have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to make this happen. our raffle tickets are selling like hotcakes! More books are available at the school office if required.
A very big thank you to our local business community on their generosity in sponsoring our Fiesta. We are extremely grateful.
Donations: Any items that could be used for decorating cupcakes eg: mini m&ms, sprinkles, small lollies etc would be greatly appreciated.
Volunteers will be needed on the day for set up, help during the Fiesta and pack up at the end of the night. Just remember many hands make light work!

They were selected for being their Grade Champions during our Table Tennis programme which was run at school.
We wish them all the very best of luck for the tournament.
Parent Information Session - Vaping:
Northern Catholic Primary Schools have organised Tanya Cavanagh to share her wisdom on the impact of vaping. This seminar is designed for parents and school staff as we take a deep dive into Vaping, what's been found in them, latest statistics, viewing devices, influences and drivers in this area on young people and tools on how to have conversations in this area. Whilst it is not a requirement it is usually recommended to hold the parent session prior to the students sessions to equip parents for the conversations they could have with their children post sessions. It can also be held on the evening of the date of presentations too. It is not recommended that young people attend this session.
The session for all Northern Catholic Primary Schools will be held at Sacred Heart Presentation Gym on Wednesday 23rd October at 6.30pm
The target audience for the parent session is Grade 5 and 6 parents. If parents of younger children wish to attend they are welcome. In the next few weeks this information will be advertised in the newsletter, parents are asked to register to assist with our numbers. There is no cost for the sessions.
