Newsletter 14/11/2024
From the Principal:
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you to all parents who took the opportunity to give feedback through the School Uniform Survey that we put out a few weeks ago. The results are in and whilst we recognise that not everyone will be entirely happy we have listened to every voice and know that we are heading in a direction that a majority of respondents agree with. These changes are designed not only to make our students feel more comfortable but also to streamline our school attire, ensuring it remains practical, cost-effective, and supportive of all students.
We will transition to these new school uniform items over the next two years. Students and parents are encouraged to only transition as they wish or need to. We expect that by the start of 2027 all students will have transitioned to the following.
Unisex Socks for All Students:
Based on survey results, we are introducing unisex socks for all students. This will simplify uniform expectations and ensure that all students have access to the same basic items, regardless of gender. Every voice has been heard, and we are excited to make this inclusive change for our entire school community.
Sports Uniform for Kindergarten to Grade 2 from 2025:
Starting next year, students in Kindergarten through Grade 2 will be switching to our sports uniform. This change is intended to better align with the active needs of our younger students, offering them more flexibility for movement during playtime, PE classes, and outdoor activities.
All Year-Round Skirt and White Shirt for Girls Gr 3-6
We will be implementing a consistent, all-year-round uniform for girls. This will consist of our tartan skirt and a white shirt, making it easier for students to dress for school while maintaining a neat, uniform look throughout the entire year, regardless of season. This will be a significant cost saver for parents. I do acknowledge that whilst we have accepted the most popular parent choice there was certainly a strong vote for a new dress material.
These uniform updates are also part of our effort to reduce the financial burden on families. The new uniform guidelines are designed to be both affordable and durable, offering a cost-effective solution that will save parents money in the long term.
We thank all of our students, parents, and staff for sharing their thoughts and making these decisions possible. Together, we continue to build a school community that values unity, inclusivity, and practicality.
Kind regards,
Mary.
